For years, I was attracted to the older, now unused, layered roadsigns. As a child, I would try to figure out what they once were and possibly even the order of their evolution. Some were beyond decoding, even for me. I had collected images of them with no particular intent, save a photorealist painting of one as an interpretive abstraction. 

Lately though I have been coming upon them more often in my travels since I have been inhabiting a lot of older, bypassed highways. Here are some, but not all of what I have seen. More to come I’m sure; grab a look, before they’re all gone.
